Interoperability Analyst (HL7 & FHIR)

As the Interoperability Analyst (HL7 & FHIR), you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of HL7 interfaces, ensuring accurate and efficient data transmission between healthcare applications and systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, healthcare partners and providers, to implement and optimize HL7 and FHIR interfaces.  will provide technical and organizational support of the enterprise’s Integration between core application in the internal environment as well as partner environments, including the development of, designs and developing interfaces for Solis.

  • Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
  • Works closely with clinical staff, IT professionals, and vendors to address integration challenges and implement solutions that align with patient care needs
  • Designs, develops, and implements HL7 or FHIR interfaces to facilitate data exchange between healthcare systems and applications
  • Customizes interface specifications based on project requirements
  • Works closely with internal teams, external vendors, and healthcare providers to gather interface requirements and ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Conducts thorough testing of interfaces to verify data integrity, accuracy, and adherence to industry standards
  • Responds to interface-related incidents, diagnoses and troubleshoots issues, and implements timely solutions; collaborates with technical teams to address underlying system or network problems
  • Creates and maintains detailed documentation for all interfaces, including specifications, configurations, and integration workflows
  • Generates regular reports on interface performance and usage metrics
  • Stays updated on industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to HL7 and healthcare data integration
  • Ensures interfaces comply with relevant healthcare data exchange standards
  • Responsible for implementation of EMR/ EHR interfaces between partner systems
  • Works and communicates independently with both partners and the internal Solis team
  • Liaises between clients and Internal network team to setup network interface through necessary ports, ip addresses, VPN, etc. configurations
  • Monitors, maintains and supports existing interfaces, ensuring they remain operational and performant
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements
  • Performs software installations related to HL7 Engine and upgrades as necessary
  • Performs Data migrations from older versions to new versions
  • Creates and maintains test environments for all Solis applications
  • Designs automation tools for data imports and exports

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or BA in computer science or related field, required.
  • 3+ years of experience in HL7 or FHIR interface development, required.
  • Experience working with interface engines (Corepoint, Rhapsod, Redox) and clinical workflows or healthcare workflows.
  • Knowledge of various healthcare applications (e.g. EMR, Lab, etc.).
  • Hands on experience working with FHIR or HL7 v2 message types such as ADT OBX and ORM.
  • Detailed understanding of HL7 segments, fields and data types such as ADT, ORU, and ORM.
  • Strong functional knowledge of and experience with an HL7 message validation tool like 7Edit or HL7 Inspector.
  • Knowledge of the various HL7 acknowledgment types and common industry practices when working with HL7 acknowledgment.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C#, VB, etc.
  • In depth understanding, working knowledge, and experience with Microsoft Windows.
  • Must be able to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
